CMP Paver Project
CMP Paver Project

Plans were approved in March 2012 by the CMP Board of Directors for a 500-acre marksmanship park located 2 miles from the Talladega International Motor Speedway in Talladega County, Alabama.  The new CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park will feature a 600-yard rifle range with 50 electronic firing points, 100 yard multi- purpose range with 40 electronic firing points, 50 yard pistol range with 25 electronic firing points, 50 foot pistol qualification range, 15 action pistol bays, trap field with 5 stand overlay with automated trap machines, and 15 station sporting clays field with automated trap machines.

The new CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park will be open to public and will offer sport shooters opportunities to practice and participate in competitive events.  In addition to range use, visitors can enroll in classes, purchase firearms accessories or just relax in a safe, comfortable environment at our range clubhouse and observe range activities via the closed circuit monitors.  Scheduled to open in spring 2015, the CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park will be one of the finest public facilities in the nation.  Competition and practice will take place on state of the art electronic targets, groups and scoring will be viewed via electronic monitors by participants and spectators.  Sporting clays, 5-stand, and trap will be shot using swipe card technology utilizing fully automated trap machines.

The primary purpose of developing the CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park is to provide marksmen with a state-of-the-art facility where they can participate in the complete CMP experience, including firearm safety courses, clinics, and a lineup of CMP Games and Match events beginning in 2015. A number of public and CMP special events are being planned to utilize the complex year-round.

Construction is well underway and is scheduled to be complete by February 2015. The range is expected to be open to the public April 2015, pending extensive range testing operations.  A photo gallery of the construction of the Marksmanship Park can be found at
